iOS 6 Feature: Limit Ad Tracking
There are many new hidden features in iOS 6 that users should be taking full advantage of. One of these being a Limit Ad Tracking option that allow users to shut off advertisers from targeting them in ads. This is a major privacy boost for some that often get Ads that relate to their location or area.
To turn this feature on: Settings → General → About − scroll down → Advertising Ο turn on Limit Ad Tracking
Apple addresses the new capability in the paragraph below:
iOS 6 introduces the Advertising Identifier, a non-permanent, non-personal, device identifier, that apps will use to give you more control over advertisers’ ability to use tracking methods. If you choose to limit ad tracking, apps are not permitted to use the Advertising Identifier to serve you targeted ads. In the future all apps will be required to use the Advertising Identifier. However, until then you may still receive targeted ads.
