Apple’s iPhone Launch Event and Preparing Your Device for iOS 7

Apple is set to release two new iPhone models at the product’s launch on Tuesday (Sept. 10). The flagship of these models will be the successor of the iPhone 5 and will look almost identical however, sources have confirmed that a fingerprint scanner will be added to the home button. In addition to possible fingerprint technology the 5S is expected to improve both cameras adding a wider aperture and packing in more megapixels, and finally the core processor should be tweaked up a bit for even faster speeds.

The other new model will paves roads for Apple in smaller markets as this device will be a cheaper, lower-cost iPhone most likely labeled as the 5C. Images leaked from overseas show that the new ‘budget’ iPhone will be packaged much like the iPod touch/nano. The 5C is also rumored to be Apple’s first colorful iPhone collection.

5 Steps

1. Can You Update?

The first step you should take to prepare for the operating system’s release is make sure your iDevice is compatible with iOS 7, If not you might want to think about an upgrade in the near future so you are able to witness the new OS first hand.

2. Backup & Sync

This is undoubtedly the single most important of the 5 steps. Backing up and syncing is always a precautionary procedure when updating, jailbreaking, or restoring. It is also just good iPhone ownership maintenance.

3. Read Up On the OS

Make sure you have a feel for the operating system. Visit Apple’s iOS info page and browse around, also make sure to read our iOS 7 feature posts where we analyze specific features new to iOS.

4. Upgrade In Style

iOS 7 allows users to customize the look of their lockscreen and almost theme their device’s OS by making menus transparent and themed to that specific user’s wallpaper. Upgrade to iOS 7 in style with these nice looking wallpapers.





5. Keep Track of Home Page Layout

Before the upgrade you may want to keep the same apps or app page layout as you have/had in iOS 6. To do this you should either create screenshots of each page and folder, or make a list of the essential apps you need. However, it may be of your best interest to start from scratch and download a whole new set of apps for iOS 7 and it’s new paging folder feature.
