iOS 7 Feature: App Store

iOS 7 Feature: App Store

Last month, at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) Apple announced the new and improved iOS 7. The update contains a completely new and redesigned UI which includes many innovative new features.

Control Center Multitasking

The App Store entails a redesigned icon and app interface. The Store’s new white and flattened appearance looks well designed and fits nicely with the new iOS 7 theme. Overall performance and speed has been increased and the iOS 6 hanging load times have seemingly been eliminated.

Apple announced just this past May that customers have downloaded over 50 billion apps from the App Store, and that customers are downloading more than 800 apps per second at a rate of over two billion apps per month on the App Store. These number are quite astounding considering that the App Store opened in July 2008 with only 500 apps available to users (currently offers more than 850,000 apps).

Auto Updating Apps

iOS 7 will always keep apps up to date without even needing to open the App Store. Automatic updates mean no more little red badges constantly begging for your attention. The auto updating featured can be turned off within settings if needed by navigating to Settings –> iTunes and App Store –toggle– Updates

Popular Near Me

The redesigned App Store introduces a new Popular Near Me page that allows the user to browse a list of popular apps relevant to their current location, “wherever you find yourself — the Louvre, for instance — tap Near Me and you’ll see a list of apps you might find useful.”
